WebMar 31, 2024 · On an average day in 2024–22, 4,536 people aged 10 and over were under youth justice supervision. Among those aged 10–17, this was a rate of 13 per 10,000. A total of 8,982 young people were supervised by youth justice at some time during the year (from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2024). WebOur department has primary responsibility for providing services to young people in the youth justice system and broader community. This involves advising young people at court and supervising young people sentenced by the court. As part of our role, we: detain high risk young people in custody pending court outcomes.
